Adriatic Marine Turtle Program was started in 1993, in organization of Zoological Department
of Croatian Natural History Museum in Zagreb, and in cooperation with Croatian and Slovenian
oceanographic institutes, aquariums and natural history museums along the coast.
Research activities of Adriatic Marine Turtle Program is divided in three scientific projects:
1. Preliminary research on marine turtles along the eastern Adriatic coast
2. Beach Survey Project
3. Adriatic Marine Turtle Tagging-Project
Preliminary research is already done in the last two years. For organizing and controlling of further research Project-Board of four biologists is established:

Furthermore, for collecting the data on recaptured specimens and for realization of Tagging-Project, Field-centers of Program are also established along the Croatian coast:

Beside scientific projects, the public awareness activities (series of lectures, exhibitions, articles, slides shows, television and radio shows) are also included in the realization of all parts of the Program.
